Faith & Future Summit 2026 Tracks & Themes

The Faith & Future Summit 2026 was organized around six core interdisciplinary tracks, each addressing a critical “border” shaping the future of knowledge, society, and the human self. These tracks framed both theoretical and applied research grounded in Islamic ethical and intellectual traditions.

Future Economies

The Equity Border

Ethical frameworks for wealth, finance, labour, and economic systems were explored in the context of a rapidly evolving global economy, including fintech, automation, and social justice.
Themes discussed included:
  • Ethical wealth creation in contemporary economic systems
  • Fintech and moral accountability in finance
  • Artificial intelligence and the dignity of labour
  • Zakat and waqf models for equitable wealth circulation
  • Circular economies and justice-based economic frameworks
Future of Learning

The Knowledge Border

Education, wisdom, and moral formation were examined in light of artificial intelligence, automation, and data-driven learning environments.

Themes discussed included:
  • From information to wisdom in modern education
  • Adab before knowledge: Islamic perspectives on learning
  • Artificial intelligence and the limits of machine learning
  • Oral tradition versus digital memory
  • The role of teachers as moral authorities in automated systems
Digital Life

The Borderless World

Identity, attention, mental well-being, and moral responsibility were critically explored within an increasingly connected and quantified digital environment.

  • Privacy, surveillance, and human dignity
  • Digital addiction and mental well-being

Environmental Responsibility

The Planetary Border

Stewardship, sustainability, and ethical approaches to development were discussed in response to contemporary environmental and ecological challenges.

  • Stewardship (Khilafah) and Islamic environmental ethics
  • Water as a sacred trust
  • Climate justice and global inequality
  • Israf (excess) versus consumer culture
  • Restoration-focused approaches to sustainability
Community & Leadership

The Social Border

Trust, governance, service, and ethical leadership were examined within fragmented and rapidly transforming societies.

Themes discussed included:
  • Ethical leadership in fragmented societies
  • Leading remote and digitally connected communities
  • Trust and authority in modern governance
  • Technology-enabled philanthropy and social impact
  • Rebuilding social capital in individualistic cultures
Ethics of the Soul

The Internal Border

Inner balance, purpose, tazkiyah, and moral agency were explored in an age shaped by metrics, productivity culture, and algorithmic influence.

Themes discussed included:
  • Tazkiyah and inner balance in modern life
  • Digital solitude and the discipline of silence
  • Purpose-driven productivity beyond metrics
  • Hustle culture, burnout, and spiritual well-being
  • The nafs in the age of data, measurement, and algorithms
