Dr. Abdus Saboor

Prof. Dr. Abdul Saboor is a Pakistani economist, academic, and policy researcher associated with the Department of Economics at PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi. His work spans agricultural economics, development policy, poverty, trade, and food security, with more than two decades of academic and research experience.

He has also contributed to policy-oriented research through the Institute of Policy Studies, where he joined the Non-Resident Fellowship programme focused on connecting academic research with public policy discussions in Pakistan.

Advancing Food Security & Development Policy

A significant part of Dr. Abdul Saboor’s research examines the economic challenges surrounding food security, poverty, agricultural productivity, and access to resources. His work with the Institute of Policy Studies has explored food and nutrition security across dimensions such as availability, accessibility, sustainability, and utilization, with recommendations designed for Pakistan’s policy environment.

His research interests also include water productivity, growth and poverty, and trade liberalization, reflecting a broader focus on how economic policy affects communities, agriculture, and long-term development.
