Dr. Muhammad Asif Aziz

Dr. Muhammad Asif Aziz is a Pakistani entomologist, researcher, and academic specialising in apiculture, honeybee health, and modern beekeeping. He serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Entomology at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi, where he is also an HEC-approved research supervisor.

He holds a PhD in Entomology from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, and has spent more than a decade working across teaching, research, beekeeping development, and applied agricultural innovation. 

Advancing Apiculture & Honeybee Research

A major part of Dr. Aziz’s work focuses on improving beekeeping practices and protecting honeybee health. His research areas include modern beekeeping, Varroa mite management, royal jelly production, integrated pest management, and the development of beekeeping as an entrepreneurial opportunity.

He has also conducted beekeeping training programmes for universities, researchers, and practitioners, sharing practical methods for honey production, colony management, pest control, and value-added bee products. His work connects scientific research with skills that can support beekeepers and rural livelihoods.

Connecting Bee Science with Rural Livelihoods

Dr. Aziz has contributed to national initiatives directed at expanding Pakistan’s apiculture sector, including the Billion Tree Honey pilot project, which explored how improved beekeeping practices, training, and technology could increase honey production and strengthen livelihood opportunities.

His academic work also extends into international scientific publishing. He served as academic editor of Melittology: New Advances and has authored research on honeybee diseases and the potential health applications of honey and propolis.

His perspective connects agriculture, environmental responsibility, scientific research, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods, bringing an applied scientific dimension to conversations about the future of communities and responsible development.
