Dr. Riaz Ahmad Saeed

Dr. Riaz Ahmad Saeed is a Pakistani academic and research scholar specialising in comparative religion, interfaith relations, Islamic thought, and the relationship between Islam and modern Western thought. 

His academic work spans more than 17 years and includes research on Muslim-Christian dialogue, freedom of expression, minority rights, Seerah, pluralism, and contemporary religious thought. 

He holds an MPhil in Comparative Religion from the International Islamic University Islamabad and a PhD in the Study of Religion and Thought from the University of the Punjab.

Advancing Interfaith Dialogue & Religious Understanding

A major part of Dr. Riaz Ahmad Saeed’s research examines how religious communities engage with one another in plural societies. 

His work has explored Muslim-Christian dialogue in Pakistan, the rights and experiences of religious minorities, interfaith relations, and the role of Islamic teachings in building peaceful coexistence.

He has also contributed to academic research on the Charter of Madinah, minority rights, pluralism, and the challenges facing interfaith engagement in contemporary Pakistan.

Dr. Saeed’s scholarship also examines the interaction between Islamic thought and modern intellectual debates. His doctoral research focused on freedom of expression in Islamic and Western thought, while his wider publications address Orientalism, human rights, religious freedom, Islamic leadership, and modern socio-political questions.

Through his teaching, research, and academic engagement, he brings a comparative perspective to discussions around religion, society, coexistence, and the place of Islamic thought in contemporary public life.
